What is a Qualitative Respirator Fit Test ?

We at Compliance Fit Testing are a mobile team that can come to your site for qualitative fit testing of half-faced, disposable and tight-fitting respirators.

A certificate is issued for each mask that is tested for an employee and must always be re-checked when any facial changes occur that could affect it, such as significant weight fluctuation or dental work.

Qualitative fit testing is a pass/fail test method that uses your sense of taste or smell, or your reaction to an irritant in order to detect leakage into the respirator facepiece. It checks whether a tight-fitting respirator properly fits the face of someone who wears it and that it is a suitable fit for each individual.

Fit testing of respirators is mandatory and is conducted in accordance to Australian Standard AS/NZS 1715:2009

Before your employees can use any respirator in the field, you must have their mask tested for proper fit and seal and it must be assessed at least annually.​​​​​
